Elvira Arellano is an illegal alien working at Chicago’s airport. After 9/11, the US government made raids in all airports looking for possible terrorists. Elvira and other immigrants were detained. She was deported and is separated from her son born in the US. Elvira fights for her son’s human rights as well as for all immigrants. In order to avoid deportation, she searches for refuge in a Methodist church, defying the US government and becoming a symbolic figure of the immigrant conflict.
